Midfielder Lloyd Kerry Joins Harrogate Town AFC

16 June 2014

Central midfielder Lloyd Kerry has agreed to join Harrogate Town AFC.

A highly skilled midfielder who has a knack of scoring important goals, Lloyd, 25, started his career at Sheffield United.

As with so many youngsters, Lloyd was unable to break into the first team of his parent club and found himself sent out on loan, firstly at Torquay United and then at Chesterfield.

Whilst at The Spireites, Lloyd impressed the management enough to be offered a full time deal when he was released from Sheffield United.
In all, he spent two seasons at Chesterfield, however he found himself on loan at both Alfreton Town and Kidderminster Harriers during his stay at Saltergate.

At the end of the 2009-2010 season, Lloyd was released along with 11 other players and dropped down into the non-league circuit with Hinckley United.

Lloyd played ninety-four times for Hinckley during his two year stay and his performances saw him snapped up by Conference Premier side Tamworth in time for the start of the 2012-2013 season.

His dynamic performances saw him quickly become very popular with the Tamworth fans and over his sixty-four appearances with the Lambs he helped them survive in the Conference Premier until they were finally relegated last season.
When it was announced that he was looking for a new club, manager Simon Weaver made immediate contact and managed to convince Lloyd that we were his next club.

Simon Weaver said: I’ve followed Lloyd’s progress for some time and we targeted him very early as we knew his abilities and character in the heart of our team would suit what John McDermott and I want for next season.

He is a very hungry player and we are looking forward to him pulling on a Town shirt.

Lloyd Kerry added: I’m looking forward to be joining an ambitious, well run club.

Can’t wait to get started and will be aiming for a successful season. The gaffer has put together a strong squad and we have to be aiming for promotion.
