Entry deadline approaching for biggest tourism awards in UK

31 May 2014

The deadline for entries to the biggest tourism awards in the UK is just a week away.

The White Rose Awards – run by tourism agency Welcome to Yorkshire – recognise the work being done by tourism businesses across Yorkshire, from hotels to pubs and attractions to restaurants.

A host of last year’s winners saw more success recently after securing awards at the national Visit England awards.

National winners included Hull’s 1884 Dock Street Kitchen who won Gold, Halifax’s Eureka! who won a silver, Bainbridge’s Low Mill Guest House who secured Highly Commended and Masham’s Swinton Park who took home a Silver – they all made it through after winning a White Rose Award in 2013.

Yorkshire tourism businesses now have until June 6 to get their entries in – and the awards are free to enter for members of Welcome to Yorkshire at www.whiteroseawards.com

Tourism represents the county’s third biggest sector – worth £7bn to the economy – and the awards see around a 1,000 tourism movers and shakers attend alongside stars from entertainment and sport.

Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: We proudly promote the biggest county in the UK so it’s only fitting that we host the biggest awards.

I’d encourage everyone to get an entry in, whether it’s your first or fifteenth time!

These awards are important as they help promote businesses to a wider audience while raising the bar across the county – keeping Yorkshire ahead of the competition.

And it’s not just our worthy winners that benefit, as even making the shortlist shows the high standards those businesses have attained.

The awards will be held in November and the venue will be unveiled shortly.
