Harrogate Hospital Radio’s Ellie Jackson wins bronze at national broadcasting awards

4 April 2014

A Harrogate Hospital Radio presenter has won a national award for her broadcasting skills and on-air professionalism.

Ellie Jackson, from Pateley Bridge, was presented with the bronze award in the Female Presenter of the Year category at this year’s Hospital Broadcasting Awards, held in Bristol.

In addition, society chairman Ian Wighton was commended in the Best Male Presenter category, whilst Harrogate Hospital Radio was commended in the Station of the Year category.

This latest award for Ellie comes on the back of five others. In 2008, she won silver for Best Newcomer. In 2012 Ellie was named Best Female Presenter and in 2009, 2010 and again last year was highly commended in the same category.

In their deliberation, the judges said: We loved Ellie’s warmth. Her delivery was spot on – a real connection with her listener. If we were in hospital we’d want Ellie to come to chat to us all day long!

Ellie, who joined the charity broadcaster in 2007, said: “I am thrilled to have won the bronze award. I love presenting my show on Harrogate Hospital Radio and being recognised as one of the top female presenters in the country is a great honour.”

Ian Wighton said: Ellie is a superb asset to Harrogate Hospital Radio and we are delighted that her talent has again been recognised at a national level.

Coming away with a bronze and two commendations is a wonderful achievement for our radio station.

I’m very proud to be Harrogate Hospital Radio’s chairman and thank all the members for their sterling work.
