Teenagers hurt in Knaresborough collision

Police are appealing for witnesses after two teenage girls were injured in a road traffic collision in Knaresborough.

Update Sunday 23 March 2013: The driver of the vehicle involved in the collision has now come forward.

The girls aged 15 and 16, were hit by a small dark vehicle – possibly a Vauxhall Corsa – on the crossing outside Meadowside Primary School, on Halfpenny Lane, at around 6.45pm on Friday 21 March 2014.

The vehicle which had travelled from the direction of Boroughbridge Road stopped briefly at the scene and a white woman aged around 60-years-old got out of the driver’s seat before getting back in without saying anything. She then drove off in the direction of Chain Lane.

One of the girls suffered a broken bone in her foot and the other sustained a suspected broken wrist in the incident. They were both taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

Officers are trying to trace the driver of the vehicle involved and are appealing to any witnesses to come forward.
