From Harrogate to the catwalk – a day’s work for Joseph from Halo Hair

27 February 2014

Harrogate hairdresser Joseph Ferraro had a date with high fashion – when he was called on to help out at London Fashion Week.

The award-winning owner of Halo Hair and Beauty spent a day in the capital styling models for Dutch designer Bas Kosters’ cutting-edge catwalk show.

Working with a team of other hairdressers from across the UK, Joseph, whose Harrogate salon is recognized as one of the best in the region, created hairstyles for a team of 22 models –and well-known comedian and surrealist Noel Fielding!

Known for his outrageous, bold prints and bright colours, Kosters’ autumn/winter collection on the London Fashion Week stage was entitled ‘Clowns are People Too!”

His day with Kosters, appropriately at London’s Dutch Centre, was his most unusual to date – and Joseph, a Fellowship for British Hairdressing Fellow with Honours, loved every minute of it.

Joseph, who was working with product brand Sebastian Professional at the show said: It was great fun, nothing like any other fashion show I have been involved in. As hairdressers we were pretty much given free reign, which is great, to create styles for the models.

There were lots of colourful hair pieces and we were doing dreadlocks,” said Joseph, who has owned Harrogate hairdressing salon Halo Hair and Beauty for the past eight years.

The clothes on the models were all very bold, with graphic prints and bright colours – it was a brilliant day.

One of the models Joseph was working with at the show was surrealist and comedian Noel Fielding, who was making his modelling début with Kosters.

Joseph added: It is a busy day when you work at London Fashion Week but very satisfying when you see the models going down the catwalk with hair that you have helped create.

Independent hairdressing salon Halo Hair and Beauty, in Leeds Road, Harrogate, is one of the leading salons in the area. As an educator for Sebastian, Joseph travels the UK passing on his skills to other hairdressers through workshops and seminars.

Twice North Eastern Hairdresser of the Year finalist and 2013 Salon Stylist finalist, Joseph also runs the Fellowship’s ClubStar Art Team for talented young hairdressers aged from 16 to 25 years old.
