Specialist sonar equipment used in search for Megan Roberts

The for missing student Megan Roberts has continued today (31 Jan 14).

The dive team scanned the river using specialist sonar equipment from Lendal Bridge, near to where Megan was last seen, downstream to Naburn.

The operation was supported by the Fire and Rescue service, who conducted a surface water search by boat.

Over the weekend officers will conduct searches along the banks on both sides of the river.

Megan, who is a student at York St John University, was last seen on CCTV on the corner of Rougier Street and Lendal Bridge at around 2.20am on Thursday 23 January 2014. She had been on a night out in the city centre with friends.

When she failed to make any contact with her friends or family over the weekend, she was reported missing by her mother on Monday 27 January 2014.

Anyone with information about Megan’s disappearance is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.
