Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway targeted by thieves

29 January 2014

Police are appealing for information after thieves stole flood lights from a charity railway at Bolton Abbey near Skitpon.

The three gas powered, Bull Finch lights were taken overnight on New Year’s Eve from the Embsay and Bolton steam railway. The lights were being used to provide lighting for the car park station over the festive season.

PC Simon Crossley of Grassington Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: The loss of the lights have had a big impact on the operation of the railway which is a charity and operates for the enjoyment of local people and visitors.

The replacement costs will have to come out of the running costs for the railway which will be a big financial burden on the organisation.

I am appealing for anyone who knows anything about the thefts or knows where the lights are now to contact the police.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for PC Simon Crossley. Or email simon.crossley@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
