Northallerton High Street assault

Northallerton police are appealing for witnesses to come forward after an elderly woman was assaulted in the town.

It occurred at around 10.40am on Friday 3 January 2014, on the High Street, between Argos and Lakeland, when a 72-year-old Northallerton woman was hit in the face.

As a result of the assault the victim suffered a broken tooth and bruising.

Following the assault the victim was spoken to by either a man or a couple.

A 43-year-old Northallerton man who was arrested in connection with the assault has been released on bail to allow for further police enquiries.

PC Paul Daykin, of Northallerton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: If you are the person who spoke to the victim after the incident I urge you to come forward and contact the police as I believe you may have vital information which could assist my investigation.

I am also keen to speak to anyone else who witnessed the assault and ask them to get in touch straight away.
