Harrogate motorist assaulted

Harrogate police are investigating after a man was assaulted on Chatsworth Road.

It occurred just after 2.20pm on Tuesday 7 January 2014, near the junction with Chatsworth Place.

The incident followed the victim having to break sharply to avoid being hit by a black car. When the driver shook his head at the suspect, he got out of his vehicle and tried to open the victim’s car door before hitting him in the face.

As a result of the incident the victim, a 36-year-old Harrogate man, suffered bruising to the left hand side of his face.

The man officers need to trace is described as being in his late twenties or early thirties, around 5ft 10in tall with a medium build.

There was a woman front seat passenger in the vehicle driven by the suspect.

PC David Minto, of Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: If you witnessed this assault or can help to identify the man responsible, I ask you to contact the police straight away.

I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the manner of driving of vehicle which led to incident taking place and ask them to get in touch.
