Witnesses sought to Harrogate assault

Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Harrogate.

A local man suffered a cut above his eye in the incident which occurred at around 12.45am on the corner of Oxford Street, near Marks and Spencer.

Two men aged 21 and 22 have been arrested in connection with the incident and released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Despite the arrests, officers still need witnesses to come forward and are urging anyone with information to get in touch.

Enquiries have established that several members of the public intervened during the incident and they are urged to make contact with the police or Crimestoppers.

Anyone who can help officers with their enquiries is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 2 – and ask for Michael Crawshaw or Harrogate police.
