Pinewoods Conservation Group help with provision of surplus holly

6 December 2013

A call for help from local charity Horticap was answered by another local charity, Pinewoods Conservation Group (PCG). Horticap has made an appeal for spare holly to help with their Christmas wreath production.

Harrogate Council was preparing to clear, as part of the Pinewoods management plan, an area that had become overgrown with holly. Intervention by Pinewoods Conservation Group ensured that instead of the holly being shredded it was made available to Horticap.

Neil Hind, Vice Chair of PCG said:

This was very fortunate timing as we had only just been told of the clearance work being scheduled but we were happy to get involved. It is good to see the holly being put to good use.

Phil Airey from Horticap added:

Our Christmas wreaths are always very popular and our students really enjoy making them. We were delighted to be able to put the cleared Pinewoods holly to good use and help to raise urgently needed funds.

A limited number of wreaths and Christmas trees are still available from Horticap off Otley Road near to RHS Harlow Carr.
