Solihull Moors 3 – 0 Harrogate Town

1 December 2013

Harrogate Town slumped to a 3 goal defeat at Damson Park, Solihull.

Steve Mallory, a late signing from Bradford Park Avenue, was given a place in Town’s starting line up.

Town made a fast start and Chris Hall was inches high with a header from Matt Bloomer’s cross.

As Town dominated the first ten minutes, Craig Nelthorpe dispatched Dave Merris down the left but his centre was scrambled away by the home defence.

Mallory soon made his presence felt with a thirty yard snapshot which Jasbir Singh just managed to turn for a corner.

Moors began to come into the game and Craig MacGillivray was called upon to turn Ryan Beswick’s looping header over the bar.

Unfortunately, Town suffered a blow on twenty minutes when skipper,Shane Killock limped off to be replaced by Leigh Franks.

A brilliant block by MacGillivray kept out Beswick’s header, but shortly afterwards Moors took the lead when the unmarked Omar Bogle drove low into the net.

Town were struggling to deal with Solihull’s attacks down the right flank and MacGillivray had to deal with a series of dangerous crosses into the area.

Hall twice went close as Town countered, but Moors should have doubled their lead when Bogle broke clear, but he unselfishly squared to Ryan Beswick, who shot tamely at MacGillivray.

Harrogate TownThe second half opened with Adam Nowakowski heading over Nelthorpe’s cross from the edge of the area.

Nowakowski then made an excellent block to stop Matt Birley as he sought to take advantage of hesitation in the Town defence.

On 69 minutes Moors scored again when Town were caught on the break and Beswick knocked in Gary Birch’s cut back.

With three minutes left Bogle started and finished a fabulous move in which Darryl Knight and Aron Wint played their part, to put the result beyond doubt.
