Double whammy for Cicada at the Yorkshire CIPR PRide Awards

29 November 2013

Cicada Communications is celebrating a double after taking home gold and silver at the Yorkshire Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) PRide Awards.

The Harrogate-based communications company was last night [Thursday 28 November] handed the winning trophy by BBC Look North presenter Harry Gration for the best Not-for-Profit campaign with ‘National Insect Week 2012’.

A biennial initiative, National Insect Week celebrated its fifth year in 2012. The theme – Celebrating Great British Insects – drew upon the celebrations around the London Olympics and the Diamond Jubilee of the RES’s Patron, Her Majesty The Queen. The highlight of the campaign was a bioblitz in HRH The Prince of Wales’ Clarence House organic garden.

Cicada was also revealed to be the runner-up in the Public Sector Campaign of the Year category with its ‘Assuring the Integrity of the Food Chain Conference’ at the glamorous black tie event.

The 2013 Awards were held at The Queen’s Hotel in Leeds, and celebrated the region’s leading public relations practitioners.

CIPR President Sue Wolstenholme, said:

The Yorkshire CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the very best public relations campaigns, teams and individuals from across the region.

The exceptional quality of entries received this year is a real testament to the thriving industry that exists here.

The CIPR PRide Awards represent the best, most creative and most effective public relations work across the UK regions and nations, and to win a gold and a silver is a great achievement as Cicada’s work has been judged to be amongst the best in the area by leading public relations experts.

The CIPR PRide Awards, sponsored nationally by Precise, PRWeek and RedBrand/Specialist Speakers, received entries from freelancers, consultancies and in-house teams across 12 UK regions and nations.

The judging process for the PRide Awards is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners.

The 2013 Chairs of Judges, Gill Dandy FCIPR, Senior Consultant at The Centre for Strategy and Communication, and Chris Genasi FCIPR, Senior Consultant at APCO Worldwide, assisted in ensuring a fair and consistent judging process.
