Community comes together for Goldsborough Primary School autumn clean

21 November 2013

Goldsborough CE Primary School recently had an autumn clean with a ‘Big Dig’ weekend.

The event was organised by Mrs Debbie Handslip, a teacher at the school, and it brought together the community for a bit of an ‘Autumn clean’ which included digging, preparing, planting and edging.

They resurfaced their Great Gold Garden donated by Mr Ross, a parent at the school and local landscaper.

Daffodil bulbs were planted ready for the spring, areas were dug over with many trees and plants cut back.

The workers were served with bacon sandwiches and hot soup as they worked and there was a fantastic atmosphere.

The school grounds now look even better than they did and we look forward to seeing the fruits of our labour come spring time.

Mrs Handlslip said:

It was fantastic to see lots of families joining in on Saturday.

The weather was kind to us and there was so much hard work going on in all areas of the playground from young and less young alike!

Mrs Handslip’s gardening expertise enabled everyone to make a real difference to our outdoor learning environments and we are very grateful to her for the being the inspiration behind the event.
