A big hand for the Acorn bridge day

4 November 2013

The Harrogate and Ilkley-based charity, Acorn, held its annual Bridge Day at Goldsborough Hall last week attracting 84 bridge enthusiasts.

Mr and Mrs Mark Oglesby of Goldsborough Hall Hotel hosted the day which was kindly organised by Steve and Ruth Vollar.

The event raised £1,075 for Acorn’s chosen charities – people with dementia and their carers in the Harrogate, Ripon and Wetherby area and for research into scleroderma disease at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

This year’s winners were Sue Harmer and Pauline Hall with Rosie Rastrick and Mandy Whone winners of the Grand Slam.

Chairman Louise Hanen said:

We are so grateful to Mark and Clare Oglesby for hosting this event again, to Steve and Ruth Vollar who helped us to organise the day and to everyone who supported us by donating our super raffle prizes.

Next year’s Bridge Day will take place at Goldsborough Hall on Thursday 13th November 2014.
