Bank card fraud investigation – Knaresborough CCTV images released

Harrogate police have released images of a man they wish to speak to after £1,300 was taken from a man’s bank account.

On 5 June 2013, the victim was called by a man purporting to be from his bank claiming that a fraudulent transaction had taken place on his account and that he required his security details to rectify the fraud.

The victim initially believed the call to be genuine as his bank card was either lost or stolen the previous day and he disclosed his security information over the phone.

Shortly afterwards he checked with his bank who advised that the call was not genuine and that cash had had been withdrawn from his account on two separate occasions.

Police have released CCTV images of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the fraud. The footage was taken at a bank in Knaresborough on 5 June 2013.

The man was wearing a red top, blue jeans and a grey flat cap. Anyone who recognises the man in the images is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Harrogate CID.

Officers have reiterated the message to all bank customers to always be on their guard when it comes to finance and to never, under any circumstances, disclose your personal banking security information to anyone.
