Nominate your favourite small business

10 October 2013

Julian Smith, Member of Parliament for Skipton and Ripon and Conservative Small Business Ambassador for Yorkshire and the North East, is asking for people across Yorkshire to nominate their favourite small business.

Nominated businesses across the country will be compiled ahead of Small Business Saturday, on 7 December 2013, where the work done by small firms across the UK will be celebrated.

The campaign is being backed by Prime Minister David Cameron who said:

While there is still a long way to go, our economy is turning a corner – and Britain’s small businesses can claim a big share in this revival. Small businesses are the lifeblood of our economy – providing nearly half of all private sector jobs. And since 2010 we’ve seen over 300,000 of them start up.

Julian Smith added:

Yorkshire is one of the most entrepreneurial parts of the country and it is those people who are starting or growing a business who are driving Britain’s recovery. It is important we celebrate those small businesses and thank everyone who is creating jobs and taking a risk to support our economy. So, if you know of a great entrepreneur or great business in your area who you think deserves to be recognised, let us know.
