22 September 2013

Harrogate Railway Ladies were at home for the 2nd league fixture of the season, looking to extend a superb footballing start to the 2013/14 season.

Within 10 minutes Railway had taken the lead through a pin point corner from captain Ali Purvis, which the keeper lost only for Jodi Hodgson to slot home for her 1st of 3! Within the next 2 minutes a kick from the Ossett keeper found its way to Nicola Hadley’s skilful feet & she lobbed the keeper from 30 yards.

Railway were now on fire & neat passing involving Rachel Dorkings, Nicola Hadley & Rachel McDonald created time & space for Dee Swales to again lob the oncoming Ossett keeper.

More pressure from Railway led to another corner from Ali Purvis who found Rachel McDonald with a powerful header to make it 4-0.

5 minutes before half time, intelligent football from Emma Landsall & Sandra Clarke created the space for a pin point pass for Dee Swales to net again.

Half Time Railway 5, Ossett 0.

2 minutes after the restart a classy Railway move landed again at Dee Swales feet, who calmly slotted home for her hat trick! Dee was full of confidence now & drilled a hard shot which the keeper initially saved only for Sandra Clarke to slot home the rebound.

More fine play down the right hand side (initially created from player of the match Issy Rowe) found the on fire Dee Swales again for her 4th of the game. Seconds later another pin point corner caused havoc in the Ossett box only to drop at Dee’s feet again, 9-0 Railway & 5 for Dee Swales.

Nonstop pressure from Railway led to another 2 goals from Jodi Hodgson claiming her hat trick & goal of the day has to go to Ellie MacLeod who struck an unstoppable shot from 25 yards into the top corner. Final score Harrogate Railway 12, Ossett Town 0.

Another mature footballing performance from the ladies who will have without doubt a tougher test next Sunday away to Keighley.
