Cyclist in Ripon collision has died

Police investigating a serious road traffic collision on the B6265 near Ripon, can confirm that the cyclist involved in the incident has died.

The cyclist, a 42-year-old man, was seriously injured when he was involved in a collision with a silver Ford Mondeo at around 7.30am today at Bridge Hewick.

Police are not in a position to name him at this time.

Any witnesses to the collision are urged to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 – select option 1 – and pass information to the Force Control Room.

Please quote reference number NYP-20092013-0078 when passing information about this incident.

The road was closed while officers conducted their investigations into the collision. It has now reopened.
