Motorcyclist dies on A61 near Ripon

A motorcyclist has died on the  A61 near Ripon.

It occurred at 7.45am on Wednesday 18 September 2013, on the A61 near Quarry Moor, approximately half a mile from the roundabout with Ripon bypass.

The single vehicle collision involved an orange Kawasaki motorcycle which was heading from Ripon to Harrogate and had just overtaken a number of vehicles.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man from Ripon, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The man’s next of kin have been informed although the police are not yet in a position to name him.

Traffic Sergeant John Lumbard, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

If you witnessed the collision or were travelling on the A61 at the time of the incident I urge you to contact the police straight away.
