Harrogate Athlete wins Gold & Silver at Uk National Championships

The U15/U17 National Championships were held over the weekend of 31st August/1st September at Bedford.

In an extremely competitive championships , St John Fisher student, Jacob Fincham-Dukes won his first National U17 gold medal in the long jump, improving his personal best three times in the competition, finishing with 7m 15cms, ranking him second in the UK.

Not content with one medal he also smashed his personal best in the 400m hurdles final finishing in the Silver medal position with a time of 54.69s, moving him to 3rd on the UK rankings.

Jacob competes in his final event of the season at the UK School Games on the 15th September at the Don Valley Stadium, before winter training, with the aim of improving his long jump in 2014 by a further 10cms to qualify for the Youth Olympics being held in China, next summer.
