Road traffic collision on Woodfield road in Harrogate

A local witness called the emergency services to Woodfield road in Harrogate yesterday evening (11:18 on 25 Aug 2013) after they witnessed a road traffic collision.

A blue Citroen Saxo had collided with a telegraph pole and a parked car.

The telegraph pole was severed at the base and there was extensive damage to both vehicles.

The driver and passenger of the Citroen were both in their early 20’s and initially trapped in the vehicle. Fire crews extricated both individuals with the driver then taken to Humberside hospital with a broken collar bone and leg injuries. The passenger was taken to Leeds with both a broken collar bone and leg.

The driver has tested positive for alcohol.

The road remained closed until 2:30am as the vehicles were recovered, the telegraph pole made safe and spilt fluid from the vehicles cleared from the road.
