Fundraising goes into overdrive at CNG

22 August 2013

The team at commercial gas specialist CNG has taken on the challenge of beating its own record for charity fundraising by undertaking more challenges than ever before and making them bigger and better than ever.

Already in 2013, the CNG team has tackled the Cattlemen’s 96oz steak challenge, run a Golf Day ay Oakdale Golf Club, abseiled and hiked HowStean Gorge, delivered a pub quiz and raised additional funds through bake sales, dress down days, tuck shops and raffles. These impressive efforts have brought the 2013 fundraising total to over £10k, but the team is not finished yet.

On the weekend of 31st August and 1st September CNG takes on one of its biggest ever feats; a grueling 132 mile Coast to Coast from Morecambe to Bridlington. 10 riders from the CNG staff will tackle the ride, with a further 12 assisting on the ground to live tweet, provide refreshments and provide some much needed moral support.

The following weekend the team is at it again with a special Buns and Brews morning at CNG House from 11am-2pm on September 7th, where passers-by can pop in for tea, coffee, freshly made cakes, soup and a roll and a whole host of treats. There will also be a raffle on the day with some amazing prizes from local businesses.

CNG has chosen Saint Michael’s Hospice as its adopted charity and much of the money raised through these events will go to support the amazing work done by the team at its Harrogate facility. Other causes to benefit from CNG’s efforts include children’s charity Candlelighters, Cancer Research UK and Martin House Children’s Hospice.

Still to come for 2013 is The Great North Run, a Poker Night, The New York Marathon and a special, top-secret entry for the Saint Michael’s You’re Inspired Challenge.

Laura Coleman, is a Gas Purchaser at CNG and one of the fundraising team; she said:

We really do take pride in how engaged the CNG team is in these fundraising activities. Everyone contributes to the ideas and we make as many of the events happen as truly possible to ensure we keep giving to wonderful causes like the work of Saint Michael’s Hospice.

We hope to see some local faces turning out to support some of these events, especially our Buns and Brews event on the 7th September. No amount of money is too small, every penny really does count and we are always so grateful to the support and encouragement we receive locally.
