Caroline Fowler of Needle Point Sewing Cafe said:

TV shows, such as the Great British Sewing Bee and Kirstie Allsopp’s Homemade Home and Handmade Britain, have made sewing and crafting popular in recent years. Handmade products give people a sense of achievement as well as learning new skills.

To develop my initial business idea back in November I contacted Harrogate council who partnered me with a personal mentor and invited me along to free weekly business lectures at Harrogate College through the Enterprise Gateway Scheme.

The help and advice from experience business mentors gave me the opportunity to develop my idea, as well as gather useful contacts from others in a similar position wanting to start their own businesses.

Two fellow entrepreneurs have worked with Caroline to launch the business.

Caroline added:

Penny Johnson from Yorkshire Websites (www.yorkswebsites.co.uk) has produced my website, Facebook and Twitter pages. Laurence Soper from Midnight Pumpkin (www.midnightpumpkindesign.com) took my initial ideas and created my logo design and developed my brand identity which is featured across the business.

Needle Point will provide Harrogate residents the opportunity to try something new by attending one of our workshops on free-hand machine embroidery, soap making, felt making, tailoring and much more. Children’s parties include T-shirt painting, soft toy making, decoupage, mosaics, biscuit decorating and soap making to name a few.

There is something for everyone old and young and any ability. We are passionate about providing a fun active place where people can explore their creativity.

The grand opening is Saturday 24th August at 2 Station Parade, where customers will get the opportunity to join our mailing list and enter our free competition to win a sewing hamper.
