Ripon Spa Gardens receives its 12th Green Flag award

5 August 2013

In Ripon Spa Gardens, you will find a beautiful Victorian bandstand that hosts band concerts many weekends of the summer months; it is home to the highly regarded Sun Parlour café where lunches, snacks and light refreshments are served: there is a pristine bowling green and many other facilities all set in the beautiful grounds of this park right in the heart of the City of Ripon.

Now this small but high quality park is proudly flying its 12th consecutive Green Flag.

Patrick Kilburn, Harrogate Borough Council’s Head of Parks and Open Spaces, says a Green Flag is a prestigious award handed about by the national environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy:

Flying a Green Flag is a sign to visitors that the Gardens are well managed and maintained to the highest standard. There is so much to do in the park so why not come along and enjoy a visit.

When awarded their first Green Flag in 2001, Ripon Spa Gardens was the only park in Yorkshire to achieve this standard and Mayor of Ripon City.

Cllr Mick Stanley, added his congratulations on this 12th consecutive Green Flag:

Harrogate Borough Council’s Parks Team do a wonderful job and their work is much appreciated by everyone in the city.
