Family Fun at Tockwith Show this Sunday

29 July 2013

Tockwith Show is preparing to host one of the district’s biggest family events of the year this Sunday with a host of new attractions along with plenty of traditional favourites.

The popular show, which is held on its own dedicated showfield between Harrogate and York, regularly attracts around 10,000 visitors.

As well as the traditional competition classes and rural events Tockwith Show has become renowned for its farmers’ market which features fresh local produce from around the region.

TV stars the Mellins from ITV’s The Dales will be this year’s main ring attraction with their Sheep Dog Display. Carol and Philip Mellin will show visitors how they and their dog work at home but instead of sheep they will be using ducks, geese – and children.

Riggmoor Reindeer will also be bringing their Miniature Farm featuring miniature ponies, baby lambs and ducklings.

With lots of other attractions, including vintage tractors, a dog scurry, children’s fancy dress, gundogs and much more chairman Lisa Chasney said this year’s show would be a real family occasion.

Lisa Chasney said:

The organising committee works hard every year to find new and exciting features to complement the traditional events that people love to see when they come.

The show is a fantastic opportunity for the whole family to enjoy a great day out and hopefully learn a bit about the countryside while they’re here.

The weekend starts with the Tockwith Show dressage event on Saturday on the showground.

The show itself opens its doors to the public at 9am on Sunday 4 August 2013.

Tickets are £8 for adults, with children under 16 free and free car parking.
