Cyclist injured in West Tanfield collision – police appeal for witnesses

crash-july-17Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious road traffic collision in West Tanfield, near Ripon.

It occurred at 10.45am on Wednesday 17 July 2013, involving a pedal cycle and a grey Suzuki motor car.

As a result of the collision the 40-year-old man riding the bike suffered head injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital. It is not believed that the injuries are life threatening.

The occupants of the Suzuki, a 70-year-old man driving the car and a 67-year-old woman passenger, were not injured. However, they were left shaken by the incident.

Traffic Constable Don Wright, of North Yorkshire Police’s Roads Policing Group, said:

If you were in the West Tanfield area around the time of the collision and saw either the Suzuki or the bike prior to the incident, I ask you to come forward and contact the police as you may have information that could help with my enquiries.
