Appeal after unprovoked assault on Northallerton woman

8 July 2013

PoliceNorthallerton police are appealing for information after a woman was pushed to the ground in an unprovoked assault.

At around 11.30pm on Friday 5 July 2013, the woman was crossing Mill Hill Lane near the junctions of Colstan Road and South Vale when she was pushed from behind by another woman or girl.

The victim, who is aged in her 20s, suffered cuts and grazes to her face. She did not see the attacker but heard them laugh as they left the scene.

Investigating officer, PC Ciaran Conlon of Northallerton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said:

It beggars belief why anyone would do this to an innocent member of the public.

I am appealing to anyone who either witnessed the assault or knows anything about it to contact the police. While the victim did not suffer serious injuries, being pushed to the ground could have had serious consequences and it’s important that those responsible are found and held to account for their actions.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2 and as for Northallerton police, or you can pass information to PC Conlon at ciaran.conlon@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk

If you prefer to remain anonymous you can pass information to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
