Fatal road collision near Airton, Skipton

PolicePolice are appealing for information following a road collision near Skipton in which a local man died.

The collision was reported to the police at around 2.35am on Saturday 22 June 2013, after a dark coloured Range Rover which was travelling south towards the A65, left the road at Carseylands Hill between Airton and Bell Busk.

The vehicle came to rest in a nearby field. Police and paramedics attended the collision, but sadly the 48-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen a dark-coloured Range Rover Vogue travelling in the area from around midnight onwards, and to anyone who witnessed the actual collision, to contact them.

A 41-year-old local woman has been arrested in connection with the collision, she suffered minor injuries and is currently in police custody for questioning.

The road was closed while collision investigators examined the scene and was reopened at 8am on Saturday morning.

Police are not yet in a position to release the identity of the deceased.
