RHS Harlow Carr 2Art to go on show as part of a summer-long exhibition profiling exciting artists from around the region at RHS Garden Harlow Carr in Harrogate.

A new summer art exhibition is about to open at one of Yorkshire’s most renowned gardens, showcasing work from the region’s leading artists.

Running from 17 June – 8 September, the Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS) Summer Arts Exhibition at Harlow Carr gardens will exhibit a wide variety of art forms, from landscapes in oils, pastels and mixed media, to traditional and abstract pieces, exquisite botanical and silk paintings, as well as print, pencil drawings, ceramics, handcrafted woodturnings and original cards.

Liz Thwaite, Head of Site at RHS Garden Harlow Carr, says:

We’re delighted to be showcasing work from the region’s great artists, and Harlow Carr is the perfect setting for such a high quality exhibition. The beauty of the gardens will enhance the art on show; at this this time of year you can expect to see an array of colour from our wildflower meadows, as well as the intriguing Meconopsis or Blue Himalayan Poppy, which is in its final year of trialling at the garden. The iconic Harlow Carr primula hybrids will also be at their best, carpeting the banks of Streamside in a saturation of dollymixture hues.

Throughout the exhibition there will be eight main artists’ work on display, including work from woodturner David Wardingly. David, who has more than 35 years of experience in the craft, now incorporates wood carving in his turning, creating plush, ornamented pieces, from intricate flowers and rippled bowls turned from ash, to handmade earrings and carved spoons.

Printmaker Hester Cox will also be exhibiting her designs of natural landscapes and wildlife, and there will also be life-like pencil drawings by Nolan Stacey, paintings by Julia Wardingly, Teresa Boast and Nikky Corker, and beautiful painted silk by Pat Willard.

In addition, there will be 18 other guest artists whose work will be added throughout the exhibition; enhancing the variety and interest of the show. For more information and full list of artists, please visit the website at www.rhs.org.uk/harlowcarr or call 0845 265 8070.
