11-year-old Rachel Bennett has been reported missing in Sherburn-in-Elmet in the Selby District.
update: 16 June 13 at 20:17 – police have confirmed that Rachel has now returned.
Her family have not seen her since 4.30pm today (Sunday 16 June 2013) when she left her home to go a bike ride.
It is believed she may have headed to a nearby wooded area which is where the police searches have concentrated including the use of a helicopter.
Searches and other enquiries in and around the town are also ongoing.
Rachel is described as white with white/blonde hair and hazel coloured eyes.
She was wearing a black waterproof jacket, black jeans and a pink and white striped t-shirt with three-quarter length sleeves.
It is believed Rachel was carrying a bag containing a cricket bat.
Anybody who has seen a girl matching Rachel’s description is urged to contact North Yorkshire Police immediately on 101 – select option 1 – and ask for the Force Control Room.
