Wright Move for Tommy

10 June 2013

Harrogate TownStriker Tommy Wright (28) has become Harrogate Town’s forth summer signing after joining us from Blue Square Bet Premier side Tamworth.

The highly sought after target man brings a wide range of experience and can list clubs such as Leicester City, Blackpool, Barnsley, Walsall, Darlington and Grimsby Town as a few of his league clubs and other sides such as Kidderminster Harriers, Luton Town, Forest Green Rovers and Tamworth as his non-league employers.

Tommy has also plied his trade north of the border having played for Scottish Premier League giants Aberdeen from 2008 to 2010.

As well as all this, he has also represented England at Under 19 and Under 20 level.

Harrogate Town manager Simon Weaver had this to say about the capture of his arrival:

Tommy will bring experience and strength to our front line. He is very aggressive, good into his body and likes to attack the ball in the box. I am friends with one of the coaches last season at Tamworth and he told me that just how well Tommy had played for them, scoring some good goals and creating many for Adam Cunnington.

He was wanted by a team that finished above us last season and so we are delighted to have brought in another player that’s in demand. Personality-wise Tommy fits the bill again as he’s very professional, lively and wants to win at Harrogate Town.
