Hawks fly high

The second round of the UK Youth Development League Upper age group was held on Sunday June 2nd at Middlesbrough.

Harrogate, Wetherby and Scarborough AC combined team (HAWKS) were hosting the match and this was the nearest available track for the meeting.

In the U17/U20 boys there were wins for Ben Pye in the 1500M and the 2000Ms/c, with Nat Welsby winning the B 2000Ms/c and placing third in the 3000M. Alejandro Perez won the 110MH and came 2nd in the 400MH, with Jake McNulty coming 2nd in the U17 110m Hurdles. Ali Rogers won the 200M with a pb of 23.8, first in Long Jump, and 3rd in the triple jump. Joe Whittington B Shot Putt, Paddy Nixon B Discus, Lucian Watts B Triple Jump, and Conor Buckle High Jump. All won their events.

Mark Taylor won the U17 1500M, and placed 3rd in the 800M, with Tim Sanpher winning the 3000M and finishing 3rd in the 1500M. Backed up by Ben Millson 3rd 200M, 2nd Shot and 3rd Discus, Luke Gair 100M and High Jump, Alex Hudson Long and Triple Jump, Liam Gotting , Andrew Cavanagh and Harry Wilson in the sprints, the boys produced a great team performance

The U17 Girls won most of their events. Millie Howard in the 800M with a pb of 2.16.5 and 2nd in the U20 1500M. Molly Webster won the 1500M, Lauren Woodhall won the 3000M, Lucy Ireland won the 80M Hurdles, and Rosie White the 300M H. Chloe Warren won the Discus ,Hammer and Shot Putt with Alex Tetley winning the Javelin with a new PB of 24.80

The highlight of the day was the High Jump with wins for Anna Wicks U17, Molly Webster A U20 and Lucy Ireland B all clearing 1.50 and beating or equalling their pb’s.

There were also wins for Marie Tolan 100MHurdles and 400MHurdles, Claire Jones 400MHurdles and 1500M. Tara Coleman won the 400M with great supporting runs from Sophia Cotton, Rhiannon Lyon, Sian Wilson and Lorna Roberts, many of whom ran PB’s

To end the meeting Hawks won 4 out of the 6 4x100M and 400M relays to win the match with a score of 617 points 134 ahead of their nearest rivals, Hallamshire Harriers, topping the league by 2 clear points.
