95% of North Yorkshire children secure first school preference

16 April 2013

schoolThis year nearly 95 per cent of parents or carers of primary age children secured their first school preference in North Yorkshire. The figure of 94.6 per cent is slightly higher even than last year and a higher figure than most other places in the country.

All children have received the offer of a place out of 6,504 applying, a larger cohort than in previous years.

Pete Dwyer, North Yorkshire’s Corporate Director for the Children and Young People’s Service said:

We are very pleased that so many of our families have once again been able to gain their first preference from their choice of schools.

As a local authority we work with schools across the county to deliver the highest standards of education so that families who are not given first preferences will nevertheless be able to send their children to good schools.
