A Knaresborough specialist car dealership is giving motor enthusiasts the chance to own their own piece of racing history – a McLaren MP4-12C GT3.

The car – which is taking pride of place in the showroom of Knaresborough-based Lawton Brook – is one of only 25 to have ever been built – and comes with a £358,800 price tag!

Peter Brook, managing director of Lawton Brook, said:

This is a unique opportunity to acquire arguably the finest GT3 race car in the world.

Unlike the other 24 McLaren GT3s, this particular car has never been put through its paces around a race track. It is a race car and as such cannot be driven on public highways. To make it road legal will probably cost a further £40,000.

Saying that, the McLaren GT3s are the most reliable and driveable cars on the GT3 grid. It boasts a 3.8ltr McLaren V8 twin turbo engine combined with a new, six-speed sequential shift gear box the gear-box is 80kg lighter than its road car counterpart.

The steering wheel was inspired by Lewis Hamilton’s MP4-24 Formula 1 car and it has a top speed in excess of 200mph.

These cars very rarely come up for sale, and when they do there is always a great deal of excitement. We have had enquiries from all over the world.

Underneath the car’s orange skin, the 12C GT3 shares the same 75kg carbon monocell chassis as the road car.

Lawton Brook was established in 1992 by Peter Brook and Jeremy Saville.

Each year the company, which has a workforce of eight, sells in excess of 250 vehicles to clients all over the country.
