Cricket legend ‘bowled’ over by CNG support

25 February 2013

Dickie Bird OBE visited Harrogate-based CNG to personally thank them for agreeing to sponsor his eagerly anticipated 80th birthday celebrations which take place in March; proceeds of which will go to his sporting foundation for young people.

The legendary umpire came to Harrogate to tell CNG employees about The Dickie Bird Foundation and how their support of the dinner will boost funds for the work it does with under privileged children. The Foundation – which provides grants to help young people further their sporting talents – will receive all the proceeds from Dickie’s birthday dinner which will feature a host of sporting greats, including Geoff Miller at Yorkshire County Cricket Club on 14th March.

Commercial gas specialist CNG has a particular passion for supporting the development of youth sports and adds this to a list of causes and clubs it has backed in recent years.

Dickie Bird said:

I had a wonderful time meeting CNG and I am tremendously grateful for their support of my birthday dinner in aid of my Foundation.

CNG MD Jacqui Hall added:

The Dickie Bird Foundation is an incredible organization and it felt like a great fit for us to support the dinner in honour of both the cause and Dickie’s milestone birthday. It was a great treat to have a sporting legend visit our office and the staff were thrilled to have the opportunity to meet a legend.

We are delighted to be associated with the event and hope it makes a great deal of money for the Foundation on the night.
