HMV have announced that they have called in Administrators Deloitte, placing 4,000 jobs at risk, including those at the Harrogate store – Deloitte has previously worked with Woolworth during their administration.
HMW has been affected by a changing market place with a growing dominance of on-line digital media, with companies such as Amazon and iTunes, plus a growing dominance from supermarket retailers.
The first HMV was opened 1921 by Sir Edward Elgar on Oxford Street in London.
