Harrogate town AFC have announced an exciting new Academy in partnership with Askham Bryan College in York.
The Academy, the second one to be formed in addition to their highly successful one with Wetherby High School, will allow the successful applicants to enjoy two years of academic sporting achievement (BTEC L3 National Diploma in Sport Development, Coaching and Fitness) with Harrogate Town FC and Askham Bryan College, working towards ‘sporting excellence’.
Successful applicants will study at Askham Bryan College whilst playing for Harrogate Town FC Academy Side. Pathways for talented players include the opportunity to play for Harrogate Town FC 1st Team and a number of high profile clubs for 1st team experience, including local step 4 clubs.

After positive talks between myself, Billy Miller and Dave Campbell of Askham Bryan College I am pleased to announce that Harrogate Town AFC and Askham Bryan College have agreed to join in partnership. As a club we are delighted that we are expanding and growing all the time and we believe that by entering into partnership with Askham Bryan College we will greatly increase and improve our intake of talented youngsters. I have walked around the College and the facilities are superb.
This combined with the energy and drive of the people involved will provide a big attraction for any young footballer aged between 16-18. We can and will cast the net far and wide for young people who share our passion for the sport. We want to produce good footballers who are keen to continue their education at the same time as develop themselves as players and, more importantly as people.
Due to the opportunity to stay in the halls of residence within the grounds of the college we aim to break new ground at Askham Bryan.
The educational side of the BTEC course will be led by Billy Miller (Harrogate Railway Athletics’ manager) and along with the added bonus of accommodation available at Askham Bryan College, means that we can offer this fantastic opportunity to candidates all over the country.
