Darley Mill chef’s lasagne dish is recipe for charity fund-raising success!

10 January 2013

One of the most popular dishes served up to customers at a Nidderdale shopping outlet is helping raising funds for a local charity.

The recipe for Darley Mill Lasagne – created by head chef Stef di Virgilio – is one of 100 starters, main courses, desserts and cakes featuring in the cook book published by Disability Action Yorkshire.

The book, which features a foreword by Baroness Masham of Ilton – a long-time supporter of the charity – is being sold for £5 a copy in shops and business throughout the region, including the Darley Mill Centre.

Ross Leventhal, owner of the Darley Mill Centre and The Yorkshire Linen Company managing director, said:

Stef is a first class chef and his dishes are incredibly popular with both customers and staff alike.

However, it wasn’t easy getting Stef to share this closely–guarded secret, but he has done so because it is helping to raise funds for Disability Action Yorkshire.

Like Stef’s culinary creations, I hope the book also becomes a best seller!

Disability Action Yorkshire chief executive Jackie Snape said:

We are very grateful to Stef and all those who have contributed recipes for this book, as well as the shops and businesses who are selling copies on our behalf, and those who have bought a copy.

This is our first venture into publishing as a way of raising funds, and we are delighted with the number of copies already sold.

The proceeds from the book will be used to fund our services for disabled people. These include residential care with training in the skills required for employment or volunteering and, our newest venture, holiday accommodation.
