The panto cast of Harrogate Theatre will be adding a touch of sparkle to festivities for foster carers and their families this Christmas when they join forces with Fostering North Yorkshire.

The theatre has invited foster carer families to their production of Jack and the Beanstalk, running at Harrogate Theatre until 13th January.

County Councillor Tony Hall, North Yorkshire’s Executive Member for Fostering North Yorkshire, said:

This is a marvellous gesture by the theatre, and we are most grateful for the support it demonstrates for fostering.

Events like this help show our carers how much their work is appreciated. Foster carers are crucial to the lives of looked after children by their provision of a loving, secure and stable home for some of the county’s most vulnerable children and young people.

Too often it is assumed that children are in the care of the local authority because they have caused problems in the past. This is rarely the case – too often, it’s because of other people’s difficulties.

Up to 75 per cent of North Yorkshire’s looked after children are in foster placements and we are always looking for foster carers and particularly those willing to take in teenagers and sibling groups.

People interested in finding out more about fostering should call Fostering North Yorkshire on 0800 054 6989. The next fostering information evening will be held on Thursday January 31st – all details available from the Fostering North Yorkshire information number.
