Leeds Detectives release CCTV in murder hunt

10 December 2012

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Leeds city centre at the weekend have released CCTV images of three men they urgently want to trace.

Robert Adamczyk, aged 28, from South Milford, was pronounced dead at Leeds General Infirmary on Sunday morning (9 Dec 2012) after being seriously injured in an attack near to The Grand theatre on the junction of Harrison Street and New Briggate shortly before 2am.

Police were called to the scene by paramedics following reports that a man had been assaulted by one of a group of three men and had fallen to the ground suffering serious head injuries.

A post-mortem examination has since given the cause of death as a head injury.

Detectives have today released CCTV images of the three men they want to trace. It shows them entering Space nightclub in Duncan Street after the incident.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Atkinson, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said:

I cannot stress enough how important it is that we speak to these men at the earliest opportunity. We have spoken to a number of witnesses who were at the scene and we are currently reviewing a large amount of CCTV from a number of different locations. I am appealing directly to these men to contact us and tell us what happened before we come and find them. The longer they leave it, the worse it will get.

A young man who was simply enjoying a night out has tragically lost his life and his family and friends are understandably distraught and are struggling to come to terms with what has happened.

I would urge anyone who recognises these men or who has any information that could assist the investigation to get in touch immediately. We believe there were a number of people who went to Robert’s aid at the time and we would also like to hear from them.

Robert had been out in Leeds celebrating a friend’s stag night. He and one friend had left the group and gone to North Bar, in New Briggate. The incident occurred after he and his friend left the bar.

The three men involved in the incident went off towards The Headrow afterwards.

Anyone who recognises the men or who has any information is asked to contact the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
