Yorkshire Cancer Research, the UK’s largest regional medical research charity, has appointed a new member to its Board of Trustees.
Graham Berville, from Spofforth, North Yorkshire, will play a key role in the development of the Harrogate-based charity, which funds world-class research, treatment and diagnosis throughout the county. His appointment reflects the desire of the Trustees to strengthen the board as it embarks on ambitious plans to grow its revenue generating activities.
I am thrilled to be asked to join Yorkshire Cancer Research. The Trustees have initiated a number of strategic developments to help Yorkshire Cancer Research continue to grow, and I very much look forward to working with them to ensure the future success of this extremely important charity.
Having graduated from Southampton University with a degree in Physiology and Biochemistry, Graham spent 13 years working for the Automobile Association in a number of different finance and marketing roles.
Following this he joined Aviva plc as a Director of their UK Life business and Executive Chairman of their Mutual Funds business, before moving to Police Mutual, where he took on the role of CEO from 2001 to 2008.
Since leaving Police Mutual Graham has taken on a number of non-executive roles, including Senior Independent Advisor for BDO LLP, and Independent Chair of the LV= With Profits Committee. Graham is also a Non-Executive Director for The Veterinary Defence Society.
Charles Rowett, Chief Executive of Yorkshire Cancer Research, said:
We are delighted to welcome Graham to the board. He will bring valuable experience and expertise and we very much look forward to working with him.
