Police investigate single-vehicle collision on Knaresborough by-pass

TrafficAt 7.20pm on Wednesday 5 December 2012, a road traffic collision occurred on the A658 Knaresborough by-pass close to the St James Retail Park roundabout.

It involved a red Suzuki Swift car which was being driven by a local 18-year-old-woman towards the retail park from the Kestrel roundabout.

The Suzuki left the road onto the grass embankment and overturned.

The driver was freed by the firefighters before being taken to Harrogate District Hospital with slight injuries.

Traffic was disrupted at the scene until around 9pm.

North Yorkshire Police is investigating the circumstances of the collision.

Officers understand the red Suzuki Swift may have been overtaking another car at the time of the crash. That driver stopped at the scene and spoke to the women, but left prior to police arrival.

Officers are urging this witness to come forward as soon as possible.

Other witnesses to the collision, or anyone who noticed the red Suzuki Swift prior to it, are also asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option 2, and ask for Rob Roberts.
