Wild Woodland fun at Harlow Carr this half-term

25 October 2012

This half-term (27 October – 4 November) Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Garden Harlow Carr will be running an array of seasonal and spooky events for the whole family to enjoy – whatever the weather.

  • Autumn is a great time to start looking for birds in the garden and on Sunday 4 November, 10am – 4pm, visitors at Harlow Carr will have the rare chance to catch, ring, net and record birds with help from the East Dales Ringing Group.
  • The RSPB will also be visiting between Wednesday 31 October and Friday 2 November (10am – 4pm) helping youngsters to make their own sticky birds treats for our flying friends, as well as their own bird badges.
  • Visitors will also be able to try their hand at hurdle making. Small Woods, a national small woodland association, will be onsite to demonstrate the various green wood working skills, and display a range of coppice products (27 – 29 October and 2 – 4 November, 11am – 4pm).
  • Other frightfully fun Halloween activities include creepy craft workshops (11am – 1pm, 2pm – 4pm), a spooky monster trail and scary storytelling sessions (30 – 31 October and 2 November, 11am, 12pm, 1pm and 2pm).
