Ripon Amateur Operatic Society celebrate the music of Richard Rodgers

Ripon Amateur Operatic Society are currently rehearsing for their autumn concert, “A Celebration of Richard Rodgers” which will be performed on 4th and 5th October 2012 at 7.30pm.

The programme will consist of favourites from Oklahoma, The King & I, Sound of Music, South Pacific and Carousel will be interspersed with jazz numbers such as My Funny Valentine, Manhattan and Blue Moon. Members of the Ripon Youth Theatre will also be joining the cast.

 

 

The programme will be linked by an engaging narration giving the audience insight into some of the great composer’s history.

This year the society have decided on a change of venue and are excited to be performing for the first time at Holy Trinity Church, Ripon which has, throughout recent years, been converted into a modern and comfortable performance space within the city centre.

The talented society, scooped a total of six awards at this year’s Wharfedale Festival of Theatre for their production of Billy in April including “Outstanding Production” and “Best Actor”.
