Clean Energy (Yorkshire) secures multi-million pound wind turbine deal for regional landowners

4 September 2012

Forget the Dirty Dozen for a Yorkshire-based renewable energy company has secured a multi-million-pound deal for a Clean Three Dozen!

And the 36 in question acquired by Clean Energy (Yorkshire) are not imprisoned soldiers but three dozen, 6kw Kingspan wind turbines, which are being offered “free for use” to landowners and famers in the region.

To purchase and install the turbines would normally cost between £28k and £32k.

Clean Energy was launched in 2009 in a farmhouse in North Rigton, near Harrogate, by husband and wife team of Spencer and Tamsin Cassidy.

It specialises in the installation of a wide variety of renewable solutions, including solar PV, biomass boilers and wind turbines favoured by the farming community.

Managing Director Spencer Cassidy said:

Many famers and landowners would love to be able to take advantage of the environmental and financial benefits renewable energy installations can bring.

However, the cost to buy and erect a wind turbine can put it beyond the reach of some.

We are now able to offer up to 36 landowners the chance to generate their own electricity, which will significantly reduce their own heating and power costs, and reduce their carbon footprint.

Mr Cassidy said that not everyone who applied would be successful, as there were a number of conditions that had to be satisfied firstly. These included the location being “windy enough”, and also the landowner securing the relevant planning permission.

Spencer added:

Electricity and gas prices are set to rise dramatically each and every year. Free for use wind turbines offer landowners a genuine opportunity to reap the financial benefits that generating their own electricity will bring.
