A Harrogate health and fitness club has splashed out £60,000 on giving its poolside facilities a major facelift.

The latest round of investment work to be undertaken at The Academy, on Oakdale Place, has seen the construction of a new sauna, steam room and “experience shower” – all adjacent to the indoor swimming pool.

This investment comes on the back of a £70,000 upgrade of its tennis courts and £25,000 being spent on a “fleet” of new M3 Keiser cycles, which are predominantly used in the very popular Energy Cycling classes.

The Academy has a long standing reputation for providing excellent customer care. This will be further enhanced with the addition of the new facilities that match the exceptional service the staff provide all members and guests.

Philippa Shackleton, The Academy Managing Director, said:

We will be celebrating our 18th birthday in October this year and this outlay is another illustration of our commitment to providing first class facilities for our members and their guests.

With this particular expenditure we wanted to improve and add new facets to how our members relax whilst visiting the facilities.

Philippa added:

In addition to providing fantastic facilities for our members, we work incredibly hard providing an equally high level of service. The team at The Academy knows that only a combination of the both make for a superb club with a thriving membership.

We are renowned for providing our members and guests with an excellent service and experience. With the on-going improvements we are introducing, we will be able to enhance this reputation further.
