Man dies following A19 accident

PolicePolice have confirmed that the 57-year-old man from York who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision on the A19 near Shipton-by-Beningbrough on Tuesday 7 August 2012,has  sadly in died in hospital.

The identity of the man has not been released.

The incident involved a silver Rover 45 which was travelling towards York and a black Vauxhall Meriva heading towards Easingwold.

The 57-year-old man from York, who was driving the Rover, suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary.

The occupants of the Vauxhall, a man, woman and two children, were taken to York District Hospital with minor injuries.

Officers are still appealing for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
