Top 20 UK accountancy firm Saffery Champness is poised to significantly strengthen its presence in Yorkshire after signing a lease on new larger premises in Harrogate.

The firm, which has a strong focus on private client and landed estates work, has nine UK offices and a team of 40 specialists currently serving the Yorkshire region from its Harrogate base, where turnover has risen by more than ten per cent in the past year.

Extensive renovation work is currently underway at Mitre House to create tailored office and meeting room space to accommodate Saffery Champness’s new Yorkshire headquarters.

In addition to the move to bigger and more central offices a number of key appointments will be made in the next 12 months across both the audit and tax sides of the business.

Martin Holden, head of office said:

Our Harrogate practice has particular expertise in trust accounting, inheritance tax planning and rural business, which are all areas that Saffery Champness is well known for nationally.

However, we also have a strong and growing corporate tax department which deals with businesses of all sizes from across the Yorkshire region.

Mr Holden said a move to larger premises had been precipitated by recent growth and was supported by the firm’s national leadership who had identified Yorkshire as a key area for investment.

 Martin Holden added:

We have made a number of new appointments in the last financial year at junior and senior level and the team will continue to expand to accommodate the future needs of the business.

It’s significant that Yorkshire has been identified nationally for its future growth potential and this is testament to the entrepreneurship of the region and its vibrant corporate landscape.

Work is expected to be completed within the next few weeks and Saffery Champness will be fully operational from Mitre House from July 28.
