Theakston Nidderdale League Week 9 Saturday 16th June Review

More rain and more misery for Nidderdale League cricketers. Of the 52 possible fixtures this week, only 2 games started, 1 of those was abandoned and the other one finished with a result.

50 fixtures were abandoned due to the weather. The only game to provide a result this week was in Division 1 at easterly outpost of Alne.

Batting first, Burton Leonard were bowled out for 109 with only Neil Blaken (39) and DanThirkell (24) making it into double figures.

Alne’s Mike Kenny took 5-34, Bradley Scott 3-15 and Stuart Morley 2-30. Alne didn’t have it all their own way, Liam Ford taking 3-16.

Bradley Scott showed what an aussie can do in these tricky conditions following up his wickets with 46 runs. Eddie Myers ended up on 32* and Alne took all 6 points.

The only other game to get started was at Little Ribston. West Tanfield managed 161-5 and in reply Little Ribston managed 46 without loss before the rain spoilt the afternoon.

Atkinson Swires Second Round Preview

The weather seems to be dominating the cricket headlines at the moment but this Sunday the sun shines on four second round ties in the Atkinson Swiers Senior Knockout.

High flying Hampsthwaite travel to Helperby and and Paul Taylor’s men will be looking to carry their league form through to cup success. Division 2 table toppers Masham have a tricky at home to Spofforth. Pannal host Blubberhouses and Alne take on Burton Leonard.

Boroughbridge v Wath and Melmberby
